Why Do We Like Spicy Food? – Disadvantages & Benefits

Why do we like spicy food

Introduction

Hot chili peppers and hot sauce can be addictive! Many people are pretty much big fans of hot and spicy food. Well, I am one of those people who feel food tastes better when it is spicy and hot.

There are times that I knowingly eat too much spices just to feel the burning sensation on my tongue. Sometimes my tummy gets upset when I eat too much of it on regular basis. You know spicy meals are like something that hurts, BUT it hurts so good, that it’s hard to go back to food that is not spicy at all. Our taste buds keep signaling us that food is not good unless it is spicy. Even though we ate well we still feel unsatisfied or like something is missing without the spiciness.

Some people just love to crunch on raw chili while having rice while some people like to pour a layer of hot sauce on top of their food. As for me, I love pouring a layer of hot sauce on top of my noodles.

Why do we love spicy food even if it hurts?

We love spicy food even if it hurts because it is not a bad hurt but it’s something like it hurts but it hurts so good. Some people who are not into it usually ask, “why do you love spicy food so much?” and I just reply them,

“Oh I love spicy food because everything tastes delicious when it is hot and spicy. I enjoy my food being added with a Lil bit of chile peppers. Maybe you should also try out hot spicy food sometimes it just takes you to another level of excitement”.

Why do we like spicy food?

Here’s Why, we all have different preferences different points of view about things and kinds of stuff may it be living style, dressing style, or just anything. Likewise, when it comes to food preference there are people like us who prefer their food with a layer of hot sauce or a sprinkle of hot fiery chille flakes all over our food. The taste receptors can sense the heat when we eat spicy food.

The capsaicin in peppers causes the heat while eating hot chili the more capsaicin present in chilli the hotter it is. When we eat hot peppers on regular basis the receptors is trained to be desensitized to capsaicin over time. Therefore, we will perceive less burn from it as compared to people who hardly take it.
